One of the most important issues within the Southwest Neighborhood Council is land use.  The numerous vacant lots, under developed business corridors and incompatible zoning seem to be a major contributor to our community’s stagnant growth.  With that in mind, your neighborhood council has decided to focus on economic development along the Western Avenue business corridor.

At the 5pm PLUM Meeting, we will be discussing economic strategies, possible actions to be taken on the Western Avenue corridor and the major issues some of our senior citizens are facing that reside at the Harvard Senior Complex located on 87th and Harvard.  Some of the residents have taken the property manager to court and others are complaining of being ill-treated, retaliated against for making complaints and possible unfair rent hikes.

At our 6pm General Meeting, we will be providing information about a possible new development and an update on several pending renovations that will affect the entire community.  We will also be discussing the three Medical Marijuana initiatives slated to be on the May ballot and planning a community event for May.

So come on out and get informed, engaged and help to empower our community.  See you Monday at 6:00!

There are 3 open board seats available to be filled.  Please see a board member regarding how to “come on board”!
