Girls Empowerment Conference

October 5 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

This event is a transformative opportunity for participants ages 12-18 from across Los Angeles County to connect, learn, and be inspired. We hope you can attend, and please share this opportunity widely; attached you will find the GEC 2024 flyer. Please note that we will make sure to follow this invitation with the GEC flyer in other languages by early next week. Registration is open!

The I Matter Girls Empowerment Conference is dedicated to nurturing the personal and professional growth of young girls. Our mission is to empower them with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to confidently embrace their future. This year, we are thrilled to welcome participants from diverse backgrounds to participate in this free event. With innovative programming, inclusive environments, and impactful engagement, the conference will feature powerful speakers, interactive workshops, and live music. Workshops will cover a range of important topics, including:

  • Positive and Healthy Relationships: Build communication skills and cultivate self-respect.
  • Career Exploration: Discover diverse career paths through discussions with successful women professionals.
  • Mindfulness and Self-Care: Learn strategies for mental and emotional well-being.
  • Entrepreneurship: Gain insights into launching a business from successful female entrepreneurs.
  • Empowerment and Resiliency: Embrace your strengths and become a confident leader.
  • Self-Identity: Explore self-care, body image, and the journey of growing up with confidence and power. This discussion will also embrace inclusivity, highlighting the importance of recognizing and celebrating diverse identities.
  • AND MORE!

New this year is The Well-Being Village, where girls can engage in hands-on self-care activities like candle making, essential oil blending, and guided meditation. We are also excited to bring back the Resource Fair Activation, featuring community partners like the Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, and more, offering engaging activities that promote creativity and well-being. We will also be introducing the Caregiver Lounge, a place where parents and guardians are welcome to join their children at the event and will have access to the GEC Caregiver Lounge, where they can relax while their children participate in the conference. The lounge will provide informational resources and a comfortable space for caregivers to wait and hang out during the event.
