Let’s Talk About Cannabis Meeting-Postponed
February 22 @ 10:00 am
How much tax revenue has the City of Los Angeles received from legal Cannabis businesses and what have they done with it?
If some of the Cannabis taxes go into a Community Benefit fund, how can it be accessed?
If legal Cannabis Business applicants are motivated to present before NC boards prior to receiving their licenses, why doesn’t the board/stakeholder’s opinion hold any weight?
On Saturday, February 22, 2020, South Los Angeles Alliance of Neighborhood Councils (SLAANC) will host a meeting exploring all questions Cannabis while providing Neighborhood Council Board Members an opportunity to learn the history of legal Cannabis in Los Angeles, reasons the Social Equity licensing process became a chaotic mess and a space to brainstorm on how Neighborhood Council/stakeholder voices can be heard with regard to legal Cannabis in our communities.
In just a few years, corporations will be allowed to enter this multi-million-dollar business. Neighborhood Councils should have Cannabis liaisons, committees and/or board members prepared to ensure our stakeholders and communities are respected and receive their fair share of tax revenue generated by legal Cannabis businesses today and in the future. For once, let’s be proactive instead of reactive by taking steps to educate ourselves, our stakeholders, and by working together.
Part of the meeting will be facilitated by Life Development Group and is specifically for Neighborhood Council Board Members only. Non-Board Members will not be allowed admittance. (Alliances are not held to the Brown Act standard).
