Pretextual Stops at Police Commission

June 30 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Stop the stops public hearing

Help End Pretexutal Stops in Los Angeles

In May, the City Council voted unanimously to ban pretextual traffic stops by the LAPD. Pretextual stops are when officers use a minor violation, like a broken taillight, as an excuse to go on a fishing expedition for evidence of a more serious crime. LAPD’s data shows that most of these traffic stops occur in South LA, and 86% of pretextual stops are of Black and Brown drivers. Now we need the Board of Police Commissioners to formally adopt this policy; your public voice is essential to ensure we bring an end to these racially-biased forms of policing.

Show up to the Board of Police Commissioners and use your public comment to urge them to formally adopt this policy!
