After 12 years representing Council District 8 and 50+ years of public service, Bernard Parks has termed out and will be starting a new chapter in his life. Vying to take on the job are four very capable and distinct candidates (Bobbie Jean Anderson, Robert Cole, Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Forescee Hogan-Rowles).
Council District 8 struggles with issues shared throughout the city but is also impacted by more nuanced challenges that demand thoughtful and forward thinking leadership. CD 8 voters must determine which candidate not only understands those nuances but will focus on targeting them at their root and not just their symptoms.
We must decide which candidate has the 21st century vision that will propel our community into a much more prosperous position? Which will work in concert with residents to develop dynamic solutions and embrace our willingness to do the work that will lead to the transformative change we desire?
