Happy Earth Day!
Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson is happy to announce the demolition of the Jefferson Oil Site (at Jefferson and Budlong) in CD8! The health risks unfairly impacted our residents, with the site sitting just feet away from family homes.
There is another oil site on the east side of Western between 104th and 105th. This site is not currently active, but it is not officially shut down either. We have the opportunity to work for its official closure.
This Earth Day, let’s focus on environmental justice and combating the injustices that have impacted our neighborhoods.
Thank you to residents that struggled to close the site down and Stand Together Against Neighborhood Drilling for their ongoing organizing around environmental justice!
