The Empowerment Congress Southwest Area Neighborhood Development Council (ECSWANDC) needs You!
ECSWANDC is having an election June 8 and needs people who are passionate about our neighborhood to run for seats on our Council and be the change you want to see in our community.
All seats are up for election for a two year term:
- 5 Residential Area Representatives
- 2 Organizational Representative
- 2 Business Representatives
- 1 Youth Representative
- 2 At- Large Representatives
- 1 Social Media Representative
Stakeholders who live, work or own property in the neighborhood and who are 18 years or older are eligible to run for a seat. Please review our Bylaws to understand the role and expectations of each seat.

What do I need to know about running for a seat?
This brief 3-1/2 minute What It Means To Be A Candidate Video is a great introduction to running for a seat on our council.
We want to create a forum to discuss our concerns and work with our City Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson to develop solutions. Our goal is community improvement through civic engagement.
Candidates should be available to attend our monthly Board meetings and be active in at least one committee.

At a Candidate Workshop you’ll learn tips for:
- running a successful campaign
- connecting with voters
- advocating for issues you’re passionate about
- writing your personal statements

You may declare your candidacy by signing up on the Candidate Registration Portal starting February 23.

Who can vote?
Stakeholders 16 or older can vote. You do not have to be a citizen to vote and you do not need to register online ahead of time.
